Past Life Karma: Why Your Past Mistakes Do Not Make You Incomplete
Past life karma helps us understand why regret should not make us feel incomplete. Every soul has made mistakes across many lives, yet everyone has the possibility of spiritual growth, inner peace, and completeness.

Many times, our past keeps troubling us. We either become regretful about things we should not have done, or we become proud of our achievements. Out of these two, regret is usually more painful.
Regret can feel like a disability. It makes us feel incomplete. We start believing that because of some past mistake, we are no longer worthy of peace, happiness, or spiritual growth.
But this is not true.
To Err Is Human
We must understand that making mistakes is a part of being human. A human being is not someone who never makes errors. If someone never makes any mistake, then that person is not ordinary. Such perfection belongs only to God.
So, making an error does not make us unworthy. It simply shows that we are human.
But does that mean a human being can never be complete? Does it mean we can never reach our best state because of some past mistake?
Not at all.
Who Has Not Made Mistakes?
Every human being has made mistakes. Still, we have seen many great souls reach a state of spiritual completeness and peace. We can look at the lives of Lord Chaitanya, Tulsidas, and many other saints.
Someone may say, “Their mistakes were not as great as mine.”
But here we must understand the idea of past life karma . The impressions of our actions do not belong only to this one life. According to the spiritual understanding of karma and rebirth, the journey of the soul continues through many births.
If we look at the past life karma of every human being across countless births, we will realize that everyone has made countless mistakes. No one is in a completely superior or inferior position.
This understanding removes the burden of regret. It tells us that we are not uniquely fallen. We are not spiritually disqualified. We are also capable of becoming complete and living in the best state possible.
Even the greatest mistake of this present life becomes very small when seen in the context of countless previous births.
Is Past Life Karma Really True?
Many times, the concepts of past life karma, rebirth, and the cycle of birth and death may feel abstract. Some may think these are only stories and not reality.
But if we observe life carefully, the concept of past life karma gives a deep explanation for many difficult questions.
If someone commits wrong actions throughout life, never gets punished, and then dies, where does the result of those actions go?
Why is a child, who appears completely innocent in this life, born with disease or suffering?
If we believe that bad actions lead to bad results, then we must also accept that life cannot be limited only to the birth and death of the physical body. The birth of the body is not the real beginning, and death is not the final end.
The soul continues its journey, carrying the results of actions from one life to another. This is the principle of past life karma. (Check out the book Many Lives Many Masters , if you are interested in diving deeper!)
Past Life Karma and Freedom from Regret
Understanding past life karma does not mean we should justify our mistakes. It does not mean we should become careless. Rather, it gives us the courage to move forward.
Regret keeps us stuck in the past. Spiritual wisdom helps us learn from the past and rise above it.
If every soul has passed through countless mistakes across many lives, then no one should feel permanently inferior because of one mistake, one phase, or one lifetime.
What matters now is our direction.
Are we moving toward truth?
Are we trying to purify our life?
Are we becoming more loving, humble, and devoted?
That is what truly matters.
Conclusion
Past life karma teaches us that our present life is only one part of a much larger journey. We should not let regret make us feel incomplete or unworthy.
Everyone has made mistakes across many lives. Everyone carries impressions from the past. Still, everyone has the possibility of spiritual growth, inner peace, and completeness.
So, we must never feel inferior to anyone when it comes to achieving the ultimate goal of life .
With this confidence, we can move forward. We can learn, purify ourselves, and reach the best state possible.
